On Dec 28th 2003, PM Goh Chok Tong said about the economy "I feel it in my bones that next year will be a better year". The official forecast for 2004 is a growth rate of 3-5 %.
And the DPM BG Lee said "The fourth quarter is already showing momentum. We have seen some of the early numbers".
Economies of US and Japan have turned around, China is continuing to grow, Malaysia and Thailand are improving robustly and investments were flowing into Singapore.
